iPod
Control and Display
DGE has developed a small
footprint embedded iPod interface for an automotive
telematics application. The controller utilizes
two-way communications to both control the iPod and request
track meta data for use by an external display. For the
track info, we created a custom alpha-numeric jump algorithm.
Our embedded iPod interface has been integrated into a
third-party telematics ECU.
PDAs and
BlueTooth
DGE
engineers were some of the first to explore the use of
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) in an automotive
environment.

This
investigation led to DGE's involvement in creating
the popular J1850
Mini Flight Recorder, a highly portable and convenient
system for testing the J1850 communications network, which is built
around a Palm PDA.
More recently our engineers have developed the
Bluetooth
Diagnostics Tester (BDT), based on a Compaq iPAQ personal
digital assistant. This tool incorporates our Gateway
technology and Bluetooth hardware to perform diagnostic
functions such as trouble code retrieval, module data
retrieval, and Hands Free Module re-flash file transfer over
the Bluetooth wireless link.
Note: iPod is a trademark of
Apple inc.
